Sometimes there are instruments in the ensemble other than those shown above. This woodwind quartet is for 1 Flute, no Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 Bassoon, 1 Horn and Piano. Any additional instruments (Piano in this example) are indicated by "w/" (meaning "with") or by using a plus sign. The first number stands for Flute, the second for Oboe, the third for Clarinet, the fourth for Bassoon, and the fifth (separated from the woodwinds by a dash) is for Horn.

The slides are all free and snug as they should be, there are no repairs, and the valves move fast and smoothly. This cornet has not been re-lacquered, it is in entirely original condition. Don't be put off by the age, this Cornet is easily capable of keeping up with most modern day pro Cornets! Bell engraving reads “STUDIO MODEL, F E OLDS & SON, FULLERTON CALIF” I have confirmed that the serial numbers on the valves match the cornet body, so this cornet is wholly original. One of the most sought after periods for Olds Cornet before production was increased. Serial number which according to various sources puts the date of manufacture as a 1952 Olds cornet. The Studio is not as dark sounding as the Olds Recording or as bright as the Super making it a great all round cornet and perfect for all styles of music from classical to jazz. These early Studio models had a silver end to the bell flair, which looks fantastic and gives the horn a rich tone. Lightning-fast valve action, medium large bore, third valve slide intonation adjustment, nickel-silver bell flare created by spinning the metal for strength and brilliance, nickel-silver valve balusters and trim. Distinctive bracing and styling details show Olds craftsmanship at it’s best.
